The most famous flagpole in the world

In contrast to common belief the world’s most well known flagpole cannot even be found on earth. About 600 million people followed the first manned moon landing by the Apollo 11 mission on July 21, 1969. Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first humans to set foot on the moon leaving a flagpole with the American flag “flying”. The flag has to withstand temperatures of up to 170 degrees below zero.

Moon landing conspiracy theory

But this is not the only reason why this flag pole is known by many people. There are still conspiracy theorists who believe that this first manned moon landing never happened in reality. Part of the „evidence“ is the flagpole with the American flag. Some pictures of the flag pole show that the camera reticles of NASA are covered by objects. For conspiracy theorists this is proof of photomontage, but it’s actually only a matter of the photographic effect of „bleeding “.

By the way, the American flag is not the only flag on the moon. Besides the flag of the former Soviet Union, the Chinese flag can be found there as well. The Chinese landed on the moon with the unmanned spaceship, Chang’e 3, on December 14, 2013. However, this either is no prove that the first manned moon landing really happened in July 1969.
